Insights on Southwestern Pennsylvania Data Center Proposals
FracTracker researchers tracked 12 data center proposals across six Southwestern Pennsylvania counties. Most sit on former industrial sites, two-thirds are in environmental justice areas, and nine plan their own fracked-gas power.

Rising Incidents, Lax Oversight: Ohio Oil and Gas Incidents, Inspections, and Enforcement 2015–2025
FracTracker Alliance and Buckeye Environmental Network analyzed 2,529 Ohio oil and gas incidents from 2015 through 2025. Incidents are rising, classifications are often unclear, and roughly 25 inspectors oversee some 96,000 wells.

Texas Continued Data Center Permitting after the Governor’s Pause
Governor Abbott told TCEQ on September 21 to halt data center permits. TCEQ’s own records show it kept mailing public notices, advancing and expediting gas plant applications, issuing air certifications and approving construction stormwater coverage.
